Andrea’s Give Back Day

On November 15th, 2014, our lovely project manager Andrea took time to volunteer with Big Shoulders Fund for a Give Back Day, a day for volunteers to come together and help Chicago area Catholic Schools.

About 100 volunteers came together at St. Francis deSales High School to clean up, organize, and paint the aging school. Andrea’s team worked to help clean out three storage rooms, taking inventory of what was inside, moving everything out, scrubbing it all down, andeventually putting everything back where it belonged. And moving these items was no easy task; there were large wrestling mats, heavy helium tanks, round tables, and even piles of stuffed animals the school had accumulated throughout the year. “We were covered in grime at the end of it all,” Andrea said.

But at the end of the day, the 121-year-old school was cleaner and brighter than ever before, giving students who love to learn a pleasant environment to study in. To learn more about Give Back Day and how you can help out Chicago area Catholic Schools, click here.
